Proctors

You must submit a proctor form each semester—even if you use the same proctor.

No exam will be sent if you do not have an approved proctor. Proctors are approved during the first month of each semester after registration closes.

The proctor form is available in your Distance Learning account. (First-time users, use your birth date (mmdd format).)

  • A proctor must be a manager, supervisor, human resource manager or rep, or an education officer.
  • A proctor cannot be a co-worker, friend, family member, acquaintance or administrative assistant.

If you have any questions or problems selecting a proctor, e-mail cdlops@dlpe.gatech.edu for assistance.

It is your responsibility to notify your proctor when an exam is scheduled.
If your proctor is unavailable to administer an exam on the assigned date, e-mail Distance Learning for approval for an alternate proctor. Distance Learning must approve all proctor substitutes.

All proctor changes must be approved 48 hours before an exam is scheduled to be administered.

You must update your account with proctor changes every time you relocate or your primary proctor is unavailable. This allows Distance Learning to maintain an accurate record of proctor information.

Degree Candidate Instructions

Distance Learning students graduate the semester AFTER you take your last class because of the delay for homework assignments and exams.

For example, if you complete your last class during the summer semester, you will graduate in December after the fall semester. You must complete the waiver form, which informs the Degree Certification office that you will be graduating during a term in which you are not enrolled.

Degree petitions are due to Distance Learning for processing and signatures two weeks prior to the institute’s deadline.
In addition, check with your major department for deadlines or requirements it may have.

Georgia Tech Transfer Credit Policy

You may not apply for transfer credit until after you are matriculating at Georgia Tech.

Transferred courses are typically those appearing on the approved program of study form for a Georgia Tech master’s degree. A doctoral student normally does not request transfer credit.

The rules and the process for obtaining transfer of credit for graduate-level courses can be found on the Georgia Tech’s Registrar’s Web site.
